Adsorption and Aggregation of Gamma Globulin onto Chylomicrons in Serum of Lowered Ionic Strength †
نویسندگان
چکیده
In the course of experiments involving centrifugation of fresh postprandial human serum diluted with isotonic sucrose, an unexpected phenomenon was noted; the usual opaque fat layer at the surface was missing, and a white pellet was deposited at the bottom of the tube. Microscopic and chemical examinations revealed the deposit to be composed of chylomicrons. Further study of this phenomenon demonstrated that lowering the ionic strength of serum led to adsorption of gamma globulin onto chylomicrons, with resulting increase in their density. This adsorbed gamma globulin was, at least in part, aggregated as evidenced by its biological activity.

Over the past years, DNA biosensors have been developed to analyze DNA interaction and damage that have important applications in biotechnological researches. The immobilization of DNA onto a substrate is one key step for construction of DNA electrochemical biosensors. In this report, a direct approach has been described for immobilization of single strand DNA onto carboxylic acid-functionalize...

Ellipsometry was used to investigate the influence of ionic strength (I) and pH on the adsorption of bovine serum albumin (BSA) or beta-lactoglobulin (BLG) onto preabsorbed layers of two polycations: poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDADMAC) or poly(4-vinylpyridine bromide) quaternized with linear aliphatic chains of two (QPVP-C2) or five (QPVP-C5) carbons. Comparisons among results for ...
متن کاملAdsorption-induced fibronectin aggregation and fibrillogenesis.
Fibronectin (Fn), a high molecular weight glycoprotein, is a central element of extracellular matrix architecture that is involved in several fundamental cell processes. In the context of bone biology, little is known about the influence of the mineral surface on fibronectin supramolecular assembly. We investigate fibronectin morphological properties induced by its adsorption onto a model miner...

The competitive adsorption of human serum albumin (HSA), human immuno-gamma-globulin (HIgG) and human fibrinogen (HFb) onto polystyrene (PS) at 20 degrees C and a pH of 7.35 (phosphate-buffered saline) was studied. Protein adsorption was studied using enzyme immunoassay. The results obtained with the immunoassay were compared with those obtained using radiolabelled proteins. Recent studies reve...
متن کاملAdsorption of Bovine Serum Albumin onto Hydroxylapatite: Theoretical Modeling and Measurements
Adsorption of Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) onto calcium Hydroxyl Apatite (HA), Ca10PO4(OH)2, has been studied by Ultra Violet (UV) spectroscopy. The adsorption isotherms of BSA onto the HA surface at 291.7 K and 303.2 K were satisfactorily presented by Langmuir equation and the evaluated parameters are reported. The specific surface area of H...
